[Top 10 Under $10] - Must Have Hair Products for Back To School

Hi everyone!

1. Trusty Shampoo & Conditioners!

L'oreal Ever Shampoo and Conditioner Line ($6.99 USD / 8.5 oz) is one of my top favorite go-to shampoo/conditioners. Your hair feels so soft, smooth, and lightweight afterwards. The nice smell also doesn't just disappear after a few hours. These are sulfate free and comes in EverCreme, EverCurl, EverPure, EverSleek, and EverStrong. It can get expensive, but stock up when these are on sale!

2. "Ain't Nobody Got Time For That"

Pantene Pro-V 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner ($5.49 / 25.4 oz / 750mL) provides a quick clean and some moisture. This comes in almost every formulation Pantene has. If you have a favorite, there's probably a 2-in-1 next to the separate shampoos and conditioners.

Garnier Fructis Haircare Pure Clean Clear 2-in-1 Shampoo + Conditioner ($5.99 / 25.4 oz/ 750mL) seriously can clean some hair. All those layers of products (or sweat residue...gross, but we've all been there!) can be washed away with this. Just be careful not to use too often, the strip clean is good, but can dry out your hair!

3. Moisture Mask

L'oreal Advanced Haircare Power Moisture Moisture Rush Mask ($6.99 / 8.5 oz) is a fantastic mask that will instantly hydrate your hair. This is great for dry hair and those damaged ends. Also great if you want to add a bit of oomph back into your hair! Highly recommended!

4. Heat Protectant

TRESemme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray ($4.99 / 8 oz / 236mL) is one that I have come back to after trying others. It's lightweight, protects your hair, and easy to use. Just be careful not to use heat directly after spraying this to avoid charring your hair!

5. "Ain't Nobody Got Time For That" #2

Pssssst! Instant Dry Shampoo ($5.99 / 5.3oz / 150g) works pretty well. It's not too heavy, but it does clean pretty nicely. You may have to spray a bit more with thicker hair, but it's a pretty good one to have!

Batiste Dry Shampoo ($7.99 / 5.05 oz / 95g) works great. It comes in several scents and no greasy residue. You can also use on clean hair to add volume!

6. Oil Treatments

Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Penetrating Oil ($7.99 / 3.3 oz / 100mL) is a great quick oil to use for your hair. Great for leaving in after shower. But seriously, use sparingly!! This packs a punch, so you can have soft hair or greasy hair. A little goes a LONG way with this!

7. Control 'em Frizz!

Got2b Glossy Anti-Frizz Shine Serum ($6.49 / 4.2 oz / 124mL) is a quick way to control all the flyaways and babyhairs. This works best after a shower, but can be used with dry hair as well. Again, use sparingly! No one wants greasy hair.

8. Beach Babe and Soft Waves

Aussie Sprunch Hairspray or Mousse ($3.49 / 10oz) is a nice way to add the soft beach waves without that crispy crunch. I prefer the Mousse over Hairspray. It smells nice and is able to give a decent hold.

9. Mousse

Garnier Fructis Style Curl Construct Mousse ($4.49 / 6.8 oz / 115g) is a great way to set your hair when it's damp. Beautiful waves will occur if you apply this, then put your hair in a messy bun, and air dry. Best part? Nice hold without the crunch! Great product for the price.

10. Hairspray!

TRESemme Two Hair Spray ($4.99 / 11oz / 311g) comes in a few forms. Mega Firm Control (pictured) is great for those night outs that you REALLY need the hair to stay. Fine Mist is good for the non-sticky feel and lightweight control!

Herbal Essences Set Me Up Stylers Hairspray ($3.29 / 8 oz / 226g) is another great choice for firm hold. Lightweight with minimal crunch. Bobby pins and this, and you're good to go!

And those are my top picks for back to school!

What are some of your holy grail hair products? Do you have a signature hair style?

Until next time!

  1. I've been rocking my natural hair texture lately (instead of blow-drying it straight like I have for the past 10+ years!), so I've been trying out a lot of different curl activators. My absolute favorites? Suave Professionals Captivating Curls Mousse and Garnier's Curl Sculpting Cream-Gel. Super cheap and work amazingly well! The mousse really defines my curls, while the cream-gel gives me more of a soft, beachy look. A+ in my book!

  3. Dry shampoos! I can't believe I didn't discover dry shampoos till relatively recently (say a year or even less)! My favorites are from Klorane and Rene Furterer. They're bargains in France, a bit pricier here in Belgium, and I heard really pricey in North America (sad face). I don't do a lot of styling with my hair! I got a perm, so all I have to do is putting a curl-holding mousse in it and blowing it dry with a diffuser. So you're getting ready to go back to school? Would love to see what other beauty/grooming stuff you're going to pack!

  6. Dry shampoo (the good ones at least!) are seriously such a time saver. Not to be gross, but...when finals come around, I don't have time for my longest shower routine.

Ooo! I've heard of Rene Furterer! It's not the price that deters me, it's the shipping :( But...one day I will tour Europe and have a makeup/beauty fund to check off my list! ;)

Yes! Pharmacy school starts on Monday, and I'm busy with prep work for clubs and packing!

  7. If you do try the Suave one, make sure to read the directions! It really does work better if you use it on wet hair, blot it out a bit, and then scrunch it up. Hope you like it! :)
