the Balm Nude Tude Palette
With all the hype around the new Maybelline The Nudes palette, Lorac Skinny Palette in Nude, then Urban Decay's Naked 2, I decided to dig up one of my absolute favorite nude palettes, the Balm Nude 'Tude Palette!

The Balm Nude Tude Palette ($36 USD / 0.382 oz / 11.08g) contains 12 shadows and a dual ended eyeshadow brush. This palette is my very first the Balm product. Ever since then, I've been hooked! It's what made me then get all 3 of the Shady Lady palettes. (Click here for Shady Lady Vol 1.,Shady Lady Vol 2., and Shady Lady Vol. 3)

This is one of those products that I will rave about until the end of time, and will definitely re-buy if I do every finish the whole thing!

Product: [3.9/4.0]   ||   Pigmentation: [4.0/4.0]
Application: [4.0/4.0]
   ||   Texture & Formulation: [4.0/4.0]   ||   Longevity: [3.8/4.0]

All of the 12 shadows are super pigmented, soft, easy to apply and blend, with minimal fallout, and long wear time! This is hands down, one of my favorites! It was probably almost a year into owning this palette did I realize you can use it dry AND wet. The satin and metallics just look that much brighter, and it wasn't all that much harder to blend out!

The sleek packaging also has a giant mirror, making it super travel friendly. I've traveled with this, and just this, many times. It can achieve any look you want: makeupless, natural, dramatic, cat eyes, etc. I love it so much!!

Notes:
- No talc or parabens.

Maybelline Expertwear The Nudes Palette

Hi everyone! I've posted about this palette a couple of weeks ago on Instagram, and today I am finally talking about the Maybelline Nudes palette!

The New Maybelline Expertwear Nudes Palette (~$9.99) contains 12 eyeshadow colors. It is designed to use as 3-quads, 4-trios, or 6-duos! You don't have to use the specific colors together, but I think this thought is wonderful! Short on time or low on creativity? Boom! No need to think, just follow the guidelines!

Maybelline The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette
The palette overall has a great spread of neutral colors. You have your browns, golds, beiges, mattes, satins, and frosts! I really like that part about the palette. However, the quality of the shadows are a little hit and miss.

Maybelline The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette

Starting with the first quad on the left, we have neutral shades. There is a glittery cream shade that makes a lovely brow and inner corner highlight shade. All 4 shades are smooth to the touch. The matte brown on the bottom right is a great crease color! The other two were quite sheer, but I do really like the bottom left taupe bronze shade as a color.

Maybelline The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette
Quad #2 i n the middle is warm! Top left is more of a soft beige. It's pretty sheer and on me, it's barely a brow highlight with my skin tone. The other three are great! Soft and smooth and I really like the gold color.

Lastly, the cool toned quad on the right. The top right taupe is the best of the bunch. It's smooth and pigmented. The other three aren't really winners of the palette. The complete dud is the black, I had to swipe over my arm so many times to get it to show. It was that dry.

Maybelline The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette
Overall, it's not a bad palette!

If you're a makeup addict/hoarder/junkie, no you don't NEED this palette. But I really think that if you are new to makeup and don't have a lot on your makeup bag, this one is a good palette to pick up. It's a drugstore brand, you're definitely getting some great colors and combinations here. So you can definitely explore. Plus...the sheerer shades are that much easier to blend! ;)

And that's it! What do you think of this palette?

Until next time,

Exuviance
Hello everyone!

Today's review is about a brand that I haven't even heard of until recently. Introducing the skincare line Exuviance! Here is what I was sent!

Exuviance sent 3 packs of their Performance Peel AP 25 to me, along with an Evening Restorative Complex and OptiLight Essential 6 Serum.

First, let's talk about the Exuviance Performance Peel AP25! You are suppose to use 2 peels or treatments per week. I was a little hesitant to try out this product, since well I've never used anything like this before. And knowing my sensitive skin, I really wasn't too keen on making it mad at me. Buuut, you'll never discover favorites or hates unless you try new things right? So here goes!

The number one direction I was always given throughout life...including right before a test --> ALWAYS read the directions!! So here are some information the card that came with the package said.

Exuviance Performance Peel AP25 - Ingredients
After reading all of the information, then reading their online information, I took a deep breath, and started using this treatment!

Exuviance Performance Peel AP25 - Step 1 - Activator Pad
Step 1: Activator Pad

@ 0 minutes: Immediately after application, I didn't really feel any stinging. I did wrinkle my nose quite a bit at the smell. Oh acid...brings back memories from all those chemistry labs and the associated fumes!

@ 2-3 minutes: I started to feel a little discomfort...couldn't really pinpoint what it is specifically. It's like my skin knows something is there, and it's just annoyed by it.

@ 4 minutes: I started to feel the dryness that was mentioned by the product.

@ 8 minutes: The dryness is definitely felt along with a little increase in discomfort, but nothing too intense to handle. Questioning if I should wait 2 more minutes, or use step 2 now...

@10 minutes: Ripping open Step 2 Pouch!

Exuviance Performance Peel AP25 - Step 2 - Neutralizer Pad
Step 2: Neutralizer Pad

Another pad that smells of chemicals, not that I was surprised, but I had to hold my breath for this one too when I applied it. The solution instantly took care of the dryness and discomfort, leaving my skin feeling refreshed!

Rinsing with water is next! Pretty self explanatory here. I made sure to wash off my skin pretty well. At this point though, my skin felt soft...but it felt like...fake soft? In hindsight as I'm typing this, I shouldn't feel surprised. I DID essentially rip a layer of skin off with acid. So perhaps feeling soft and tender skin isn't a complete surprise.

Exuviance OptiLight Essential 6 Serum
Exuviance OptiLight Essential 6 Serum

Definitely the best smelling of the bunch here. It's suppose to brighten the skin, decrease pigmentation areas, and help to provide more glowy skin. It feels smooth and absorbs fast! Did I mention the smell? Love it after the 2 chemical pads!

Exuviance Evening Restorative Complex
Exuviance Evening Restorative Complex

This is a cream that boasts of anti-aging ingredients and it helps to improve skin texture, tone, and appearance. It does feel good applying it on my tender, after-treatment face. I'm not sure how moisturizing this actually is, since within 20 minutes or so, my skin feels dry again. But honestly, it could have just been me being stubborn and sticking it out for the 10 minutes of treatment. I'm thinking next time, I won't wait the full 10 minutes!

Do you use any types of masks or peels? Have you tried anything like this mask?

Until next time!

Softlips Cube - Fresh Mint
Hello! I have finally hopped onto the bandwagon and bought this little guy. I remember really liking the normal Softlips in tubes back when I was in high school. And with all the hype around this cube version, I thought I'd give it a shot. After all...one can never have too many lip balms! (...Right?)

Introducing...Softlips Cube 5-in-1 Lip Care in Fresh Mint (~$3.49 / 6.5g / 0.23oz). The product is soft and smooth to apply. My lips were pretty dry when I first tried this, and it actually seemed to help my lips!

These products' 5-in-1 is suppose to...

  • Hydrate - formulated with shea butter to restore moisture
  • Replenish - with antioxidant Vitamins A, C, & E
  • Smooth - rich emollients leave lips silky and soft
  • Protect - with SPF 15 sunscreen
  • Add Shine - for a perfect radiant finish

I'm not sure about the perfect radiant finish, but this lippie did help to hydrate my dry lips! When my lips were super dry, I found myself reaching for it every 2 hours or so. But once my lips weren't super dry, I reached for it every 4 hours or so. Not too shabby! Although honestly, I wanted to apply more often. The scent is a light and sweet mint, taste applies too!

The packaging reminds me of a little ice cube! Super cute! Another one of my favorite features of this lip balm is that it has SPF! Sure winter is coming in Chicago (insert Game of Thrones pun here ^.^), your lips still need SPF protection!

So the verdict? I'm sold. Like to the point of wanting the other 2 flavors now. :)

CoverFX Blotting Powder - Light
Hi everyone!

Something that I have rediscovered during this month is my CoverFX Blotting Powder. I remember receiving this as part of a contest winnings from CoverFX (thank you!!), and thinking that it's a pretty good powder when I gave it a try.

With my blogging comeback, I had to post about this power! I've never been the girl to take out blotting sheets (too lazy)...actually I'm not a touch up kind of a person in general. But for this powder, I'd do it!

CoverFX Blotting Powder ($24 / 10g / 0.35oz) is a pressed blotting powder designed to control oil and minimize shine. It is available in light, medium, and dark. The suggested use is to use the puff applicator, pick up the product and blend onto face.

I have combination skin, which tends to get a bit more on the oily side during the summer, especially if it's humid. During my longer days this month, I've been carrying it around with me and it has been an absolute god-send! Gotta look good on rotations right? ;)

I love the sheer finish and look of this blotting powder! It's not cakey and goes on super smoothly. I couldn't tell that I've put powder on after applying this. All it does is take away the oily shine. Even though I've received this powder in Light, I can still use it on my tanner self without any issues. The thin packaging also makes it great for slipping it into your purse or bag. The mirror is also a large size too, great for on the go. I found that I needed a touch up after using this in ~3-4 hours, which means, I usually apply once in the day.

I know I know, what about the price you say? A little thing of powder for $24? I think it's worth it...if you use blotting sheets, which comes usually ~$5-6 per pack, and depending on how many sheets you need in a day, 10 grams of product (which is a lot by the way), might just equal out!

It is formulated WITHOUT parabens, sulfates, synthetic Fragrances, synthetic Dyes, petrochemicals, phthalates, GMOs or triclosan! Also, this is clinically tested, vegan, free of gluten, mineral oil, and talc AND cruelty free!

Where to find: Cover FX online, Sephora in store and online
